East Yorkshire flatlands

As I was going for a walk at RSPB Fairborne Ings I thought I would make a weekend of it and take the van down for the weekend. I booked on to a farm CL in Snaith, just south of Selby. It was a bit scruffy, not much to recommend it to be honest.

On Saturday I waited for the rain to stop, kicked my way through the feral chickens, and went to the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield.

There was an exhibition of light sculpture by Anthony McCall.

In the afternoon I called in at Selby Abbey.

Sunday I made my way to RSPB Fairborne Ings and joined the Meetup group for a 7 mile walk, looping over to Castleford and back. The nature reserve is based in old minework spoil areas, and below is a memorial to miners ages from 14 to 68, who had been killed over the years.
